Veterinary Drug Residue Testing

The Broadest Range of Veterinary Drug Residue Testing

Veterinary drugs are any substance applied or administered to any food-producing animal for therapeutic, prophylactic, diagnostic purposes, or for modification of physiological functions or behavior. For example, ractopamine is a beta-agonist drug added to feed to promote lean muscle in animals raised for meat. While many countries allow its use within specified limits, regulatory agencies in some countries have banned the residues of this drug.

Animals need time, also known as the withdrawal period, for antimicrobial residues to be effectively eliminated from their system. If the animal is consumed within the withdrawal period, these residues that accumulated in its tissue can have adverse effects on humans such as allergic reaction. Product quality can also be compromised with antibiotic presence in raw materials. Improper administration can also lead to the development of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria.

Ensure the safety of your consumers and the quality of your product. Let us know about your drug residue testing concerns by giving us a call or e-mail. A member of our technical team will attend to you right away.
